Twitter and Facebook - who is technologically challenged?

I note that I haven't posted a blog for a while so I thought I had better bring you up to date. Most of this year has been following new social media phenomena and (Yes I admit it) frightened by the plethora of new programs attached. I started with facebook and found it a great way to find out what is happening with my family but there are two major contributors in my stream and so when I log on I don't get a bit from each person I get pages of posts from Lorelli and Susan - none of them all that interesting. Do I really care that one has come back from a meeting and another had toast for breakfast? I am failing to see the value in belonging. So I went to twitter and found that I was fast being followed by some very powerful people. Why? I can't work it out unless I was supposed to then follow them. In some cases I have but it all seems to be an endless whirl of unintelligible information and who do you ask to interpret it for you- and why would we make up another language e.g. twitterese at all? It seems you need other programs to manage your ramblings and to sort all the endless so now I am here saying 'What's it all about Alfie?' Maybe it's time to exit stage right.
